“There is no session on ‘Science and spirituality’ in the 104th Indian Science Congress being held in Tirupati,” D. Narayana Rao, the General President of the Indian Science Congress clarified to me. Dr. Rao’s clarification was in response to what Dr. P.M. Bhargava had told in a press conference in Hyderabad a couple of days ago.
Addressing a press conference organised by the Jana Vignana Vedika – Telangana for releasing a declaration based on a day-long seminar conducted on what ails the Indian Science Congress, Dr. Bhargava had “lambasted the organisers of the forthcoming Indian Science Congress at Tirupati and the Central Government for taking up sessions on Science and Spirituality”.
Speaking to me, Dr. Bhargava said that “Science and spirituality” was not a session but the “theme of the Indian Science Congress” this year. “The actual theme of the ISC is Science and Technology for National Development” clarified Dr. Rao.
The five-day annual Indian Science Congress is being held at the Sri Venkateswara University in Tirupati from January 3-7.
The research and scientific community should be free from political bias. The scientific community should think over it for better research and development.
